YEAR 5 : CLARICE CLIFF AT HWPS
Year 5 have been exploring the work of Clarice Cliff as part of the Art Curriculum. As part of this work, they have designed, made and painted pots in the style of Clarice Cliff.
Designing my pot by Nia S, Spruce:
"I started off by dividing my art journal page into 6 squares and drawing basic designs similar to Clarice Cliff’s ones. My favourite was the one with lots of cats on it. Then, I drew my own designs for different types of containers. After that, I decided on only three designs, which were all cat related because I am obsessed with cats. Finally, I drew a cat pot, which was blue on the outside with green eyes and purple on the inside. This is the one I decided to make out of clay."
Making my pot by Jess F, Cedar Class:
"Firstly, I got the clay and rolled it into a ball. I then got the ball of clay and poked my finger inside to make a hole. I then pinched around the sides. Finally, I left it to dry. That is why it is called a pinch pot."
Painting the pot by Sophie L, Mulberry Class:
"I painted stripes along the pot, making sure I lined up the colours so that it was blocks of paint in the style of Clarice Cliff. When it was dry, I dribbled a bit of paint down the inside which seemed to work really well."
